Building Strength from the Inside Out

Supporting students’ mental health is more than a pastoral concern it’s central to improving learning, attendance, and long-term outcomes. But many students, especially girls, are standing out in our Aspirations data as students who need further support with their wellbeing.

Aspirations data shows:

  • The majority of students cited difficulty thinking clearly and managing problems as the key factors contributing to low wellbeing.
  • Year 9 Girls are more likely to report low emotional wellbeing and confidence compared to other cohorts across the UK.

This impacts classroom participation, resilience, and long-term outcomes. This theme helps schools take early, positive steps. Students want space to reflect, tools to manage stress, and safe ways to ask for help.
